"Filling Station" by Elizabeth Bishop

Oh, but it is dirty! —this little filling station, oil-soaked, oil-permeated to a disturbing, over-all black translucency. Be careful with that match! Father wears a dirty, oil-soaked monkey suit that cuts him under the arms, and several quick and saucy and greasy sons assist him (it’s a family filling station), all quite thoroughly dirty. Do they live in the...

...the Flunk cover of Blue Monday is great...not heard that one before....always great the way these things work out!!!!
Mother Morris and covers....
was just explaining to my dear Mumma about this "covers" bit I've been going on about here. She paused for a minute, there was a twinkle in her eye and she said, "You mean like Jacqueline du Pré's performance of Elgar's Cello Concerto, for instance?"
Gotta love her!

More flow less ebb....
...merci for all the kind words and heartfelt wishes! I will continue watching and popping on Tumblr from time to time but I need to devote much time to getting in prime health...as much as an anicent Geezer can be....as well as focusing on my writing and other tasks. And MUCH love to you all! Especially all the lovely members of the original 8 -- you were there at the first and continue to inspire...merci beaucoup!
Ebb & Flow....the flotsam and jetsam of it all....
Much life hurtles by so fast that when you get a little moment, usually caused by a calamity like the loss of a loved one, a broken heart or a failed romance, it's all there for you to see! I've been plagued by some nasty health things of a late and this kind of thing has roots that run deep. I'll need massive surgery come the new year in order to set this old cart back on the rails. I also am deep into a something of a cold snap of the heart...so with many of those things in mind, I have to cut back on my time on this wonderful place I found some nine months back called Tumblr. You are all wonderful Gawds and Goddesses...especially you Goddesses..I thank all the dieties that the world has changed if only just a smidgen for the good....I'll be around and pop in from time to time -- I think the dozens who sent cards and the now massive number of followers I have.....peace with you in your new years and all the new years of you lives! Sun slowly sinks away from the Champs Elysee and our character, the editor-at-large for the Flimwell Papers saunters off in the twilight of the Paris cityscape....au revoir mes amis!
RIP Vic Chesnutt
A man whose pain inspired great things, great songs and greatness for others...who sadly succumbed to that dark pain on Christmas Day!
