505 Queen Street...
..it was a speakeasy, a bootlegger's place or as we liked to think of it...a little late night refreshments of the mind and soul -- John Candy was oft there....many many folks as Marcus and Dan Ackroyd and others kept it rocking till the wee wee hours. I had a part-time job at Sam's and also helped out over the counter too.....

How to text $10 to the Red Cross for Japan... →
From George Takei’s Twitter feed: “Today we are all Japanese. Give $10 to help. Text REDCROSS to 90999 I have sent my humble sum!  My family has a strong connection to Japan besides my working for a Japanese survey equipment company way back.  My uncle took a case all the way to the UK’s House of Lords for Japanese Canadians’  who suffered dispossession, deportation and...

Sending out my prayers and thoughts to all...
Some time way back I worked for a Japanese survey equipment company. Something strange happened, the usually very stoic and inscrutable Japanese boss and his second-in-charge got to know me,, in fact a very deep and lasting friendship happened. Over all the years we have stayed in touch too. Back then they had a little party for me when I left small company to seek fame and fortune in London. Over too many toasts and some great Japanese food they said they would miss very much the most unusual Canadian they had the chance to know. They were was a gift exchange. I WAS stumped, caught short....so went out to my car and found a large bottle of Canadian Club whiskey...gave that to the boss man, and to his second-in-charge, who was a huge Blues and Jazz fan, I pulled out from a stash of lps in the car, a copy of the 1961 pressing of Robert Johnson King of the Delta Blues Singers...they gave me a leather coat and the second-in-charge gave me this Lp by Nick Drake.
I have tried to call both Koji Fukishima and Mick Kagata today...as they reside very close to the hell that the earth has unleashed upon that far place. My heart and my soul goes out to all struggling there to get just through it.
