Ferry Cross The Mersey ~ Gerry and the Pacemakers

Just one of my favourite songs — my Dad loved it too but he said it was his “scouse” ancestry that did that — and always brings back memories of the summers I worked on the small Glen Ora Ferry!  I need a bit of calm, reassuring music from my youth day….that is reason ‘nuff for The Flimwell Papers Music Corner selection today! 

trivia point: The song is often misspelled as “Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey”, but according to the song’s lyrics, the track is correctly titled “Ferry Cross the Mersey”. “Cross” is not a contraction of “Across”, rather, it is a request of the ferry: “Ferry, cross the Mersey!”
